Metallica play Glasgow tonight, so this week’s pattern had to be the Metallica Salmon Fly – a good excuse to tie one of the most striking flies you’ll have in your Battery of Salmon patterns.
The pattern was created by Petur Steingrimsson, a guide on Iceland’s Big Laxa for over 60 years, who came up with the design while listening to a Metallica track on the radio. Decades on, it’s still one of the best-looking Icelandic Salmon Flies.
