When you think of competitive Sea Angling in the UK, we have a wide variety of Tournaments and Championships. We have many amateur and pro level competitions which include fishing from the beach, harbour walls, off a charter boat and many more.
However, for last 6-7 years, conservation and angling bodies have been researching and studying the question of “Can we fish for the Blue Fin Tuna” showing up on our coastline? After all that work, they have concluded that we can and from this decision, spawned the Blue Fin Tuna Championship, held in Falmouth, Cornwall.
Over the course of 2-3 days, 25 boats set out to catch 6 Tuna per day – The biggest 3 tuna per day will be marked on their score cards and the boat with the biggest total length of those days fishing, will be the winner. Crews not only from the UK attended this Championship, but teams from South Africa, Mainland Europe, Ireland and many other countries showed up to compete in catching these awesome specimens.
